Cross-pollination. It’s the term that I use to describe what you should be doing with your blog posts. Cross-pollination involves taking your blog posts and “sprinkling” them throughout the social web.
Posting each blog post to each of your social accounts takes a bit of time, though. Think about it. You publish a great blog post, then you have to crack open your Twitter account and create a tweet, log-on to LinkedIn and share a link, get on Facebook and publish it to the wall of your business page. While all of these tasks are necessary to get the word out, your time should be devoted to more value-added activities.
Enter HootSuite and all of it’s power.
The RSS Feed feature of HootSuite will AUTOMATICALLY publish your new blog posts to the social networks that you indicate. That means that you publish once and everything is updated. Here is my tutorial which shows you step-by-step how to set it up:

Once you have a HootSuite account and have added your social profiles, here are the steps:
- Login to Hootsuite
- On the left menu, click on “Publisher”
- Click on “RSS Feed” and wait for the lightbox to appear
- Click the “Add New Feed” plus sign
- Enter the URL of your RSS feed
- Select the social media profiles you wish to publish to
- Click on “Save Feed”
- That’s All Folks!
